This holiday season is going to be all about FUN!

I have a theory that the more fun we have, the more we are able to slow down our perception of time.  This goes against the idea that “time flies when you’re having fun,” but I can’t help but notice that the times when the clock seems to slow to a standstill, I am doing everything but what I want to do.  Our perception of time is slowed, right?  Nope.  I think that it’s those times– the achingly dull times when we just wish we were doing anything but what we are actually doing– that makes life feel as if it’s slipping away.  In the short-term, it may seem that time has slowed to a standstill, but over the long haul, that kind of living is what makes us look up one day and think, “Holy crap.  What just happened?  Where did my life go?”

I know that there are times in every life when it just isn’t
fun, when it, in fact, sucks.

But when it doesn’t, shouldn’t we be having as much fun as
possible?  Wouldn’t that be the best way to squash the feeling that it is all too

So I’m choosing, right now, to have more fun.  To lighten up.
To enjoy this precious holiday season.

I have always loved Christmas.  It is a great source of happiness to me, but
there have been times when parts of it didn’t seem particularly fun to me.

Shopping at Wal-Mart?  Not fun.  Shopping at local shops?  Fun.

Every year, I find myself simplifying just a little more,
and this one will be no different. I’m not not necessarily cutting anything out.  All I really
want to do this year is have fun, to let things happen, to not feel compelled to orchestrate every step.

And that’s where I am as we begin this holiday season.

If it ain’t fun, what’s the point?

And speaking of fun, Jamie Ridler is hosting  the Kickin’ It Old Skool Blog-a-thon for the
whole month of December.  What could be more fun for a blogger?  You’ll
be seeing me a lot more this month as I join hundreds of other writers for
this month long event.  Each day, we’ll be given a new prompt.  The goal?  To have a little fun.  I’ve been looking for some new ways to shake things up creatively, so this is just the ticket.

If you’d like to join in, come on over to Jamie Ridler Studios.  Or grab your journal and create your own.

Today’s prompt?
